BHRT Rejenesis Health + Wellness

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a medical treatment designed to address hormone imbalances. As men and women age, they may experience uncomfortable symptoms of depleted hormones. Women going through menopause often struggle with hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia, and a range of other symptoms. Men may go through a similar stage of life called andropause, characterized by decreased testosterone production. BHRT aims to restore hormonal balance by replacing deficient hormones with identical molecules that are derived from natural sources.

If rejuvenating your mind and body with BHRT sounds like a good fit for you, contact Rejenesis Health + Wellness in Arizona. At our clinic, Dr. Kevin Chan and his team of professionals will introduce you to the various benefits of this therapy and get you started on a treatment plan that meets your needs and expectations. What Can BHRT Treat?

Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone hormones do not just affect sexual health, they are part of an individual’s entire physiology. Women can start to feel changes related to perimenopause– the period of time before menopause– around their late 30s to early 40s. Perimenopause can be a challenging time that spans 4 to 8 years, depending on the individual. This is when irregular menstrual cycles become more common due to decreased ovary functioning. Estrogen and progesterone hormones decrease, leaving women vulnerable to life-altering issues like:

  • Low Libido
  • Mood Swings
  • Thinning Hair
  • Dry Skin
  • Decreased Muscle Mass
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Memory and Attention Problems
  • Insomnia
  • Limited Energy
  • Weight Gain
  • Decreased Bone Density
  • Headaches
  • Hot Flashes
  • Osteoporosis

After 30, men experience a decline in testosterone levels of 1% each year. (1) This can lead to:

  • Erectile Dysfunction
  • Gynecomastia (breast growth)
  • Low Libido
  • Low Muscle Mass
  • Moodiness
  • Constipation
  • Malaise
  • Poor Sleep Quality

A decline in muscular strength can impact self-confidence and your ability to perform daily tasks. With a type of BHRT called testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), we can reduce these symptoms to help replenish testosterone and restore balance.

BHRT Benefits

With BHRT, we can improve your well-being by:

  • Rebalancing your hormones: We can improve symptoms of a chronic hormonal decline by increasing your hormone levels.
  • Improving bone density: Estrogen decline can increase your chance of developing osteoporosis, (2) but BHRT can support your body in maintaining healthy bone density.
  • Weight management: Hormones can affect your weight, and balancing them can help you maintain a healthy body mass index.
  • Relief from chronic hormonal imbalance: Age-related hormonal imbalances can disrupt your physical health. We can improve hot flashes, night sweats, and low energy levels with BHRT.
  • Enhancing cognitive function: If the physical discomfort of hormonal imbalances is affecting your mental clarity, we can support your memory and cognitive function with hormone therapy.
  • Increasing muscle mass and strength: Muscle mass decline is a common symptom of hormonal imbalances, and BHRT can help you achieve a stronger, healthier, and more athletic figure.
  • Improving skin and hair quality: Your hormones can also affect the elasticity of your skin and the quality of your hair. After BHRT, many patients enjoy a reduction in hormone-related hair loss and fewer wrinkles for better skin quality.
  • Restoring your libido: Hormonal imbalances can create issues with sexual intimacy, but BHRT can elevate your libido by improving your energy levels.

BHRT Candidates

Suitable candidates for BHRT therapy are healthy nonsmokers who would like to reduce mood swings, improve muscle tone, and enhance their sleep quality. If you have work-related stress, malaise, fatigue, depression, or low libido, BHRT can help you restore your energy levels. Most candidates for BHRT are in their 40s and 50s and have a body mass index (BMI) in a healthy range. Undergoing BHRT treatments may require lifestyle changes. Candidates will need to be prepared to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and get enough sleep to support their bodies during treatment.

Types of BHRT Procedures

Hormone Pellet Therapy

Hormone pellet therapy is a treatment that balances your body’s testosterone and estrogen levels with small pellets that we insert beneath your skin. The pellets gradually release hormones into your bloodstream to correct imbalances. We can use hormone pellets to treat symptoms from menopause, andropause, and hormonal deficiencies from aging. We offer several different types of hormone pellet therapy, depending on your hormone levels:

  • Estrogen: We can increase the estrogen levels of women who are suffering from mood swings, vaginal dryness, low libido, and other menopause-related health conditions.
  • Testosterone: For andropause, we can gradually increase your natural testosterone levels.
  • Combination: If you have an estrogen and testosterone deficiency, we can rebalance your body with a combination treatment.

We will insert the pellets beneath your skin on the hips. They are small– no bigger than a grain of rice –and designed for comfort so you will not be able to see them after we insert them. Pellet therapy generally lasts 3-4 months, and the appointment only takes 15-20 minutes.

Intramuscular (IM) Injections

IM injections restore your hormone levels with a fast-acting injection. Although topical treatments come with the risk of transferring testosterone to others unintentionally, IM injections go directly into your bloodstream and act more efficiently. During an IM injection, we will cleanse your skin and use a thin needle to inject the hormones into your muscles. You may feel a slight pinch, but the injection is not painful. You can enjoy the benefits of the therapy in 24-48 hours and the results can last several weeks.

Menopause Treatments

Although hormone pellet therapy can help with symptoms of menopause, we also offer topical estrogen for sexual wellness that women can use in intimate areas to improve vaginal dryness. Topical estrogen comes in several forms: cream, gel, spray, and patch. For women who are unable to receive pellet therapy or need localized therapy for a condition such as vaginal dryness, topical estrogen can help improve your sexual function. Recovery & Results

For hormone pellet therapy, you will feel your best after 2-3 weeks because the pellets gradually release hormones into your bloodstream over time. You can enjoy a more stable mood, increased libido, and enhanced sleep quality after hormone pellet therapy. Many patients also experience improvements in their intimate relationships and self-esteem. The results of your treatment will depend on the type of BHRT therapy you need and the symptoms we discuss during your consultation.

Corresponding BHRT Treatments

Peptide Therapy

Peptide therapy is an amino acid (protein) treatment that improves your quality of life with proteins that support your body in maintaining muscle mass, increasing sex drive, and slowing signs of aging. Common peptides we use include CJC-1295, BPC-157, Ibutamoren (MK-677), and Ipamorelin Acetate. We offer several different forms of peptide therapy:

  • Oral: For oral treatment, we provide peptide-infused pills or tablets that you can take over a designated period of time. Most patients take oral peptide therapy for several weeks or months.
  • Topical: We can prescribe peptides topically to help you improve the quality of your skin barrier. Topical peptides can increase collagen production to reduce wrinkles. (3)
  • Nasal: With a nasal spray, we can help patients with asthma or lung conditions relieve their symptoms.

Peptides can help your body repair tissue, improve your mental clarity, increase bone density, and help your metabolism function more effectively.

Allergy Testing & Therapy

Allergy testing helps you identify substances (allergens) that cause inflammation or irritate your body. More than 50 million Americans struggle with allergies each year, (4) and 32 million of them have a food allergy. (5) Untreated allergies can have a long-term impact on your health, leading to chronic diseases such as asthma. We offer two types of allergy tests to help you identify allergens:

  • Blood testing: During a “finger poke” test, we will prick your finger and analyze your blood for allergens.
  • Scratch testing: We can lightly scratch the surface of your skin to identify allergies. If you have airborne or food-related allergies, we will likely perform a scratch test.

By identifying the allergens that are causing chronic inflammation in your body, we can greatly improve your quality of life. We can treat your allergies with injections or sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) – an extract that we spray under your tongue – that can reduce your symptoms. We can gradually increase the dose over time to help your body create a tolerance to allergens.

Regenerative Medicine

If you are struggling with changes to your joints, skin quality, or energy as you age we offer several regenerative treatments to help your body heal and reduce inflammation:

For cancer patients struggling with low energy or hair loss, we can use regenerative medicine to help your cells restore their original DNA structure.
